The Story of Stanleyrr aka "Uncle /b/"
On February 6, 2012, 4chan's /b/ decided to partake in an act of kindness, as opposed to an act of trolling as they usually do. They refer to it as "Operation Moralfag" (/b/ routinely describes people by one of their traits followed by a "fag" suffix. In this case, someone moral) and the story goes as follows.
Stanley Rowalt is an elderly man residing in the Maryland suburbs of Washington D.C. Despite his age, he appears surprisingly tech savvy. He seems to use a computer routinely and even has a blog and a YouTube channel with videos, usually of himself ranting or giving short movie reviews. One day, someone from /b/ discovered his videos and felt sorry for him that his videos had hardly any views yet he continued to post them routinely. Said /b/ user then decided to make a post about Stanley on /b/ and asked /b/ to come together to show support for this seemingly lonely old man. Within hours, he had over 50,000 subscribers and hundreds of thousands of views. /b/ became amazed by Stanley's apparent wisdom and thus, the man became famously known as Uncle /b/ or Grandpa /b/. Despite his sudden fame, Stanley has not acknowledged his mass of followers and continues to act as if nothing happened. /b/ has taken it to show that he has a "I don't give a fuck" attitude which /b/ continues to praise.
I am touched that the internet has come together to support this man. It is amazing what can happen when the internet bands together. Stan seems like an interesting guy, I would love to meet him IRL and perhaps even interview him. He is a prime example as to why we should listen to our elders. Here is a taste of his wizardry.
